COVID-19: Information, Resources, and Cancellations
Page Background

Owners of animals who can no longer keep them, that reside in Anne Arundel County, can surrender the animal(s) to Animal Care & Control.  Individuals bringing a pet to the facility must have a valid ID.  Owners are asked to provide proof of ownership of the pet to streamline the animal's process through the facility, providing proof allows Animal Care & Control to find appropriate placement or make final disposition in a more timely fashion to reduce stress on the animal.  Owners should have physical control over any animal being brought to the facility via leash, carrier or cage.   If an animal being surrendered has had veterinary care owners are asked to provide any records available.  There is no fee to surrender a pet  for placement/adoption.  Infortmation about our humane euthanasia services can be found under services and programs.   Animal Care & Control hopes to be a last resource for owners who need to surrender a pet and may be able to provide information or resources to owners that may assist them in keeping their pet if they do not wish to relinquish.

Individuals who find lost pets in Anne Arundel County are required, by law, to surrender them to Animal Care & Control if the owner hasn't been found within 24 hours.
