Overview

A zoning verification letter is a statement from the Zoning Division verifying the zoning of a property including mapped overlays, whether a particular use is allowed, whether there are any current or previous zoning applications or any open enforcement action for the property.

How to Request?

Note: Contact the City of Annapolis Planning and Zoning for addresses within the city limits.
 

A zoning verification letter request must be made in writing either by letter submitted by mail or drop box or by the online request form (see link below).

Include:

  • Property address
  • Property Tax Identification Number (if known)
  • Specific requests for verification of a particular use
  • Who gets the letter and any additional individuals to be included on the letter (i.e. lender, attorney, etc.)
  • Contact name, phone number and email information
  • Check written to Anne Arundel County

Payment must be received prior to a Zoning Verification Letter being issued.
Include address and tax account number for properties requested with payment.

Drop off information:

Zoning Verification Letters and/or payment can be submitted by the drop box.

  • Place in a secure envelope.
  • Clearly label on the outside identifying Zoning Verification Letter Request. Include check written to Anne Arundel County - CASH CANNOT BE ACCEPTED
  • The Drop Box will only be accessible between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday when the County is open.  The Drop Box will NOT be accessible outside of these hours
