A zoning verification letter is a statement from the Zoning Division verifying the zoning of a property including mapped overlays, whether a particular use is allowed, whether there are any current or previous zoning applications or any open enforcement action for the property.

How to Request?

A zoning verification letter request must be made in writing and can be submitted either by mail or by an online request form (see link below). Letters and payment can be mailed to:

Office of Planning and Zoning
Zoning Division

Note: Contact the City of Annapolis Planning and Zoning for addresses within the city limits.


  • Property address
  • Property Tax Identification Number (if known)
  • Specific requests for verification of a particular use
  • Who gets the letter and any additional individuals to be included on the letter (i.e. lender, attorney, etc.)
  • Contact name, phone number and email information
