South County Recreation Center Pre-K

A state-licensed Pre-K program for children ages 3, 4 and 5 at the South County Recreation Center in Harwood, Maryland.


The Child Care Division of Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation & Parks provides state-licensed child care opportunities for children ages 3, 4 and 5 at the South County Recreation Center every day that Anne Arundel County Public Schools are open for children. The Pre-K program operates Monday through Friday.

Registration Information for New Participants 
Please be aware that there is a maximum registration for each center and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Registrations may be completed by Creating an Account (Create a primary account with your child added to the account and an adult over the age of 18. An email address is required to create an account online) or in person at the Child Care Administrative Office, or mailed to: Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks, Child Care Division, Suite 105, 1 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401    
     
  • Prior to your child’s first day, the Child Care Administrative Office must receive a completed registration, registration fee as indicated on your account.    
     
  • Please be aware that online registration does not complete the registration process. You will immediately receive an email that your online registration was received. You must keep this for your records to verify the date of your registration.     
     
  • After completing the online registration, the next step is to view the Regular Forms for Admission flier. Visit the Required Forms for Admission page to download the required forms and general information about the forms. 
     
  • Your child’s enrollment will not be considered complete until all required forms and the fee have been received by Child Care.

The state-licensed Pre-K program’s school year activities will include a variety of educational, recreational & social opportunities. It is designed with our youngest participants in mind…
 
School year activities include:

  • Educational time supplemented by the Maryland State Department of Education’s Office of Child Care (MSDE-OCC) approved Frogstreet Curriculum
  • Morning Snack 
  • Outdoor Play (weather permitting)
  • Story & Craft Time
  • A rotation of “free play” learning stations to include Literacy, Art, Blocks, Housekeeping, Music, etc.
  • Enrichment time consisting of: STEM Learning (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), Cooking, Multicultural Time/Spanish, Music/Rhythm/Movement, and Health & Wellness/Physical Education
  • A daily Rest Period
