Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks offers a state-licensed child care program that provides a safe and supportive environment in accordance with the Maryland State Department of Education’s standards.

About Us

Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks' state-licensed Pre-K and School Age Child Care programs located within many of the schools and one recreation center in Anne Arundel County. Our programs provide a safe, supportive environment that promotes social interaction, community integration, physical development and intellectual growth in accordance with the Maryland State Department of Education’s Office of Child Care and National After School Alliance Standards.

  • School Age Child Care (SACC)

    The School Age Child Care (SACC) before-and-after school program is offered during the school year. Children in Kindergarten through grade 5 are eligible to attend the elementary school program. Children must be 5 years old by their first day of attendance. Every child must have all of the State mandated forms completed and on file at the center prior to their first day. No one will be allowed to attend the program without this information. SACC is a separate entity from the school therefore any documents (health inventory, custody, etc.) must also be submitted to SACC. There is a maximum capacity for each center.

  • Middle School Teen Group (MSTG)

    The Middle School Teen Group (MSTG) before-and-after school program operates from end of school until 6:00 p.m. every day that school is in session for students. This program is for children who are entering grades 6, 7, and 8. Every child must have all of the State mandated forms completed and on file at the center prior to their first day. No one will be allowed to attend the program without this information. MSTG is a separate entity from the school therefore any documents (health inventory, custody, etc.) must also be submitted to MSTG. Those children returning to the program will need to verify with the Center Director that their files are completed and up-to-date. Children who attended one of our elementary sites will be able to transfer their file to the middle school. There is a maximum capacity for each center.

  • Pre-K Program

    Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks' Child Care Division offers state-licensed Pre-K programs. The Pre-K program operates Monday through Friday, every day that public schools are in session for students. The South County Recreation Center Pre-K program is for children ages 3, 4 and 5 and located at 4510 Owensville-Sudley Road in Harwood, Maryland.

  • Child Enrichment Center (CEC) Program
    Child Enrichment Center (CEC) programs are specially funded, licensed child care programs. The CEC programs are designed to address the safety, social and recreational needs of the children in their care. School year activities include the following: PM snack, homework/literacy time, outdoor play (weather permitting), arts & crafts time, and organized games.
