Quiet Waters Park

Quiet Waters Park is situated between the South River and Harness Creek. Visitors can enjoy trails winding through forests and past grassy fields, children’s playground, or picnic among 340 acres of beautiful park land.


Notice to Neighbors of Quiet Waters Park

Neighbors of Quiet Waters Park are advised that construction work will begin on or about March 17, 2021 in the recently acquired expansion of the Park, known formerly as Quiet Waters Retreat. The work involves the demolition and removal of several damaged and non-conforming buildings and restoring portions of the property. Neighbors may notice the sounds of construction equipment and may observe truck traffic in Hillsmere Shores. Work will be occurring between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily and is expected to be completed by early-June. There will be no impact on activities and events at Quiet Waters Park.

About The Park

The Quiet Waters Visitor Center is the place to begin your visit to the park. The Visitor Center's two art galleries display art exhibitions of the best local and regional talents. The park provides six outdoor pavilions that can be rented for parties. The park’s indoor facility, Blue Heron Center is available for weddings, parties, and business meetings.  

Quiet Waters Park has several locations for you to hold a wedding ceremony. The South River Overlook is a wonderful location, perched above the scenic South River. The James Lighthizer Gazebo is a beautiful setting, located on the edge of a serene pond. The Blue Heron Center is the perfect location to hold both your ceremony and reception.

    Quiet Waters Park is open 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to dusk.

    Visitor Center Office hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Quiet Waters Park Fees
    Daily Entry Fees
    Daily Vehicle Parking Fee: $6.00 per vehicle
    Daily Vehicle Parking Fee - Physically Challenged: $5.00 per vehicle
    (MVA handicapped tags or hanging permit required)
    Daily Vehicle Parking - Service Connected: Free per vehicle
    (Military Individuals, Veterans and their Families - Services connected I.D. required)
    Annual Vehicle Entry Permit: $30.00 per vehicle (AACO Resident)
    Annual Vehicle Entry Permit: $40.00 per vehicle (Non County Resident)
    Lifetime Senior Citizen Pass: $40.00 per person (Age 60 and over)
    Daily Parking Fee - Buses: $30.00 per bus. The $30 bus fee applies to all vehicles which hold more than 12 passengers.  
    Park fees must be paid in cash or check. Credit or debit cards are only accepted at the gatehouse. The Visitor Center only accepts cash or check. Vehicles entering the park must either display a valid yearly/ lifetime permit or pay the daily vehicle entry fees. The yearly permit is a small sticker which is permanently affixed to the driver's side front bumper of the vehicle, drivers side window or the inside frame of the driver's side door. Persons age 60 and over may obtain a lifetime vehicle entry permit which is a card that must be shown along with valid ID to gain vehicle entry. 
    Senior Passes and Annual Permits apply for Fort Smallwood Park, Downs Park and Kinder Farm Park. There are also daily fees for those not wishing to obtain a yearly permit. Vehicle entry permits may be obtained at the gatehouse. Permits are also sold at the Park Information Center. Contact park office for additional information at (410) 222-1777.
    Replacement Permits: $3.00 per vehicle
    If your vehicle is sold or involved in an accident and the current year parking permit sticker needs to be replaced, remove the parking permit sticker from the vehicle and return it to the park office to receive a replacement.
