Our mission is to hear petitions for and issue decisions regarding zoning reclassifications, special exceptions and variances to zoning, and critical-area provisions of the County Code.
Notice Regarding the Coronavirus
Starting September 14, 2021: Administrative Hearings will NOT be held at the Arundel Center. They will be conducted over the internet via Zoom. The link to join a particular hearing will be posted under the individual hearing on the Administrative Hearing calendar, you may find the hearing schedule by clicking this link: https://www.aacounty.org/departments/admin-hearings/admin-hearings-schedule/list
The public has the right to object to an internet based hearing. The objection must be submitted to the Administrative Hearing Officer in writing, stating the reason for the objection. The Administrative Hearing Officer will review, and if for good cause shown determines the internet based hearing should not be held, the hearing will be rescheduled.

The Office of Administrative Hearings conducts public hearings on all petitions for zoning reclassifications, special exceptions and variances. The Hearing Officer may also hear appeals of certain construction contract disputes. After the Administrative Hearings, the next level of appeal is the County Board of Appeals or the Circuit Court.
