Recreation & Parks - Weather Cancellations

SUNDAY, January 25
  • Parks will CLOSE at 3:00 p.m.
  • Recreation centers, aquatic centers, athletic fields and facilities and park visitor centers are CLOSED.  
  • All events, programs, reservations and permits are CANCELLED for all parks, recreation centers, aquatic centers and athletics.
  • Ice Rinks are CLOSED.

MONDAY, January 26
  • Recreation centers, aquatic centers, child care facilities, athletic fields and sites, and park visitor centers are CLOSED.  
  • All events, programs, reservations, and permits are CANCELLED for all parks, recreation centers, aquatic centers, and athletics.
  • Parks will open at 8:00 a.m.
  • Ice Rink openings will be assessed on Monday morning.

Project Description

This project designs and constructs the reconfiguration of two (2) existing baseball fields, the addition of a small multi-purpose field, and converts existing grass parking to more usable and formalized paved parking. The project includes stormwater management, site lighting, demolition of the vacant home, and landscaping.

Project Updates

Phase 1 of the Peninsula Park Expansion project continues under construction. The Department of Public Works anticipates a December 2024 completion.

Project Description

Phase 2 of the project will include improvements to the existing park based on the public input received in the survey. The work is expected to include bathroom and playground renovations, additional walking paths and accessible routes, improvements and additions to sports courts, as well as landscape and stormwater management improvements.

Project Updates

The Department of Public Works held a Public Meeting to present the Schematic Design and receive comments on August 21, 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Eastport-Annapolis Neck Library to discuss planned improvements at Peninsula Park, 1061 Bay Ridge Road, Annapolis. The work includes building new pickleball courts, upgrading and expanding the number of tennis courts, installing benches, making current trails ADA-compliant and adding new trails.
