Bacon Ridge Natural Area in the South River Greenway - Projects

Project Description

This project plans, designs and develops the 150-acre former Forney property as an expansion of the 1,124-acre Bacon Ridge Natural Area. The project will include added hiking and equestrian trails, a mountain bike skills trail, equine hitching and care area, parking, a homestead interpretative area focused on two historic tobacco barns, storage and park ranger training facilities.

Project Description

This project will assess two historic tobacco barns on the BRNA Forney property for rehabilitation. The first phase of work will include selective clearing, debris removal, a hazardous material inventory and stabilization.
