Overview
Bacon Ridge Natural Area in the South River Greenway contains over 1,100 acres of mature forest and wetland, including 630 acres of permanently protected land through a conservation easement between Anne Arundel County, Maryland Environmental Trust, and Scenic Rivers Land Trust.
Portable restrooms are available year-round at the Severn Chapel & Hawkins Road Parking Areas.

Parking Areas
Natural Area Rules
- Park hours: Open from sunrise to sunset. *
- Alcoholic beverages, weapons, hunting, fireworks, metal detecting and littering are prohibited.
- Vehicles are allowed in designated parking areas only and may not park overnight.
- Storage of commercial vehicles/equipment is prohibited.
- Pets must be under the control of their owners, on a leash at all times, and their waste disposed of properly.
- Off road vehicles, dirt bikes, and similar types of vehicles are prohibited.
- Interfering with, removing or disturbing wildlife and natural resources is prohibited.
*Exception: those in compliance with the Bacon Ridge Natural Area - After Hours Night Riding Usage Memorandum of Understanding may remain in the park after dusk, within the agreed upon dates and times.
