Broadneck Trail Ribbon Cutting

District 5 Blog Post: 04/01/2026

This ribbon cutting was decades in the making! What started as a vision in the Small Area Plans in 1999, crafted by resident stakeholders as part of the long-term vision for the Broadneck peninsula, concluded this week with the official O of the Broadneck Trail.

I was thrilled to be able to give my support to get it over the finish line.  The Broadneck Trail was funded through federal and state grant funds, as well as county capital funds, a careful coordination for each constructed section.

For the first time ever, neighborhoods along College Parkway are connected to one another from Rt2 to Sandy Point State Park, and to the greater trail network leading to Annapolis and BWI.  If you enjoy historical documents like I do, please enjoy the original planning documents circa 1999.

More than just pavement, this trail serves as a vital link to the Chesapeake bay, offering a premier route for recreation and transportation. Whether you are biking to AACC, commuting to Annapolis, or heading to the beach with family, this trail is your new roadmap to the outdoors.  The Broadneck peninsula is now more accessible than ever—come explore it today!

Finally, a sincere thank you to Mr. Ed Parker (pictured receiving a keepsake box) and his late wife, whose donations as board members of the Friends group supported additional amenities along the trail, and has been a key stakeholder from the very beginning.
