County Executive Pittman, Maryland Jockey Club to Celebrate Over $317,000 in Community Grants Awarded to Anne Arundel County Organizations

County leaders join Maryland Jockey Club to distribute FY27 funds, supporting vital human services and grassroots initiatives in the Laurel community

Glen Burnie, MD (July 13, 2026) – Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman, Arundel Community Development Services, Inc. (ACDS), alongside the Maryland Jockey Club and local community leaders, celebrated the distribution of $317,190 in community grants to 12 local organizations in a first-of-its-kind event. All organizations directly serve Anne Arundel County residents living within a three-mile radius of the Laurel Race Course.

The funds, awarded through the Laurel Race Course Impact Fund (LRCIF) for Fiscal Year 2027 are administered by Arundel Community Development Services, and are strictly designated to support vital community initiatives within human services, education, and community beautification.

"Investing in the neighborhoods and organizations that surround Laurel Park strengthens our entire county," said County Executive Steuart Pittman. "The Advisory Committee and ACDS did an outstanding job of selecting local nonprofits that effectively improve the quality of life for local residents. These are great organizations.”

The Fiscal Year 2027 LRCIF grantees include a diverse range of local nonprofits, education centers, and community associations:

  • Laurel Advocacy & Referral Service
  • Laurel Cats
  • Maryland City Communities Association
  • Maryland City Neighbors
  • Monarch Academy Public Charter School

The Laurel Race Course Impact Fund Advisory Committee oversees the annual grant process to ensure that funds generated by the race course are intentionally reinvested into the immediate, surrounding communities.
