
Volunteer Background Check
The purpose of the Department of Recreation and Parks’ Background Check program is to ensure that every individual who interacts with children undergoes a criminal history records check.

There are two options for completing the Background Investigation process.
Complete and submit the Background Investigation Disclosure and Authorization form.
Applicants can complete their background check online through the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Background Screening Portal.
Please use the following following values for the corresponding fields in the portal.
1. FCRA purpose = Employment by Hire or Contract (default do not change)
2. ORGANIZATION = PLEASE enter the name of the organization who you will be volunteering/coaching with. Use acronym if possible (ex. SCYA) DO NOT PUT RECREATION & PARKS
