Identify and prioritize opportunities to expand the County’s recreational trails by extending and/or connecting existing trails with parks, other trails, schools and community hubs, other public facilities (libraries, senior activity centers, etc.) and commercial centers.

Feasibility Study completed.  Recreation and Parks will select individual connector projects to advance to design and construction.

 

Project Description:

This project involves the design, engineering, and construction of an extension of the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail from the existing terminus at Dorsey Road to the Glen Burnie (Cromwell) Park & Ride and Light Rail Station.

Project Updates:

Recreation and Parks studied opportunities to expand the County’s recreational trails by extending and/or connecting existing trails with parks, other trails, schools, and community hubs, other public facilities (libraries, senior activity centers, etc.), and commercial centers. Design on this trail connection will begin following selection and engagement of an engineering consultant. The Department of Recreation and Parks and the Department of Public Works will hold a Public Meeting during the design phase to present the schematic design and receive input from residents. This project involves the design, engineering, and construction of a trail spur from the BWI Trail and John Overstreet Connector Trail at Stewart Avenue to Corkran Middle School in Glen Burnie.

Project Updates:

Recreation and Parks studied opportunities to expand the County’s recreational trails by extending and/or connecting existing trails with parks, other trails, schools, community hubs, other public facilities (libraries, senior activity centers, etc.), and commercial centers. Design on this trail connection started in March 2026 The Department of Recreation and Parks and the Department of Public Works will hold a Public Meeting on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 6:00 PM to present the schematic design and receive input from residents. The meeting will be held at Corkran Middle School, 7600 Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie.  Please refer to the Department of Public Works website for schedule information.
