The Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for reviewing and approving block parties on public County roadways.
To request permission for a block party please contact the Traffic Engineering Division at (410) 222-7331 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Please provide the following information:
- The exact location of the block party (road name, intersecting streets, and/or mailboxes).
- Date of the block party (rain date if applicable). Must submit request 14 working days prior to party date.
- Time of the block party. Please note that the maximum number of hours should not exceed 18 hours.
- Contact information for the organizing person/group.
- The community and/or neighborhood representative will be required to provide advance notice to the affected residents/property owners in writing with a copy of the notice sent to TED.
- The community and/or neighborhood are responsible for acquiring proper traffic barricades for closing the roadway. These barricades must be monitored at all times to permit the access of Police and/or Fire emergency equipment and personnel should they be needed.
- Alcoholic Beverages: Be aware that based on County Code “a person may not consume an alcoholic beverage or may not possess an open container of alcoholic beverages on a public road.” Consumption and possession of alcoholic beverages is allowed only if the proper permit is obtained.
TED will review and determine if the proposed location of the block party is acceptable. Typically, block parties will not be allowed on Arterials and Collectors.
