Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash - West River

On September 3, 2026, at approximately 3:05 p.m., Southern District officers responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a commercial motor vehicle on Swamp Circle Road near Muddy Creek Road in West River. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Freightliner FL70 was traveling north on Swamp Circle Road when the operator failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle traveled completely off the right edge of the roadway and struck several wooden poles. The vehicle then traveled back across the roadway and struck several trees, causing the driver to be ejected. Personnel from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded to the scene to provide treatment. The driver was pronounced deceased by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel.
The Anne Arundel County Police Crash Reconstruction Team will be handling the investigation.

On September 3, 2026, at approximately 8:25 p.m., Western District officers initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation in the area of Route 3 North and Carver Road. During the traffic stop, officers located a loaded handgun in the center console compartment of the vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged.

On September 4, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Northern District officers responded to the parking lot of the Brews & Cues Bar located in the 7900 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard for a robbery of a citizen. The adult male victim advised he was walking in the parking lot with his phone in his hand when he was approached by two suspects who assaulted him and grabbed the phone out of his hand before fleeing on foot. Detectives assigned to the Northern District Detective Unit are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6135.
