Pedestrian-Related (Bicyclist) Crash - Crofton

On September 19, 2023, at approximately 6:25 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Johns Hopkins Road and Nantucket Drive for a crash involving a pickup truck and a bicyclist. The investigation revealed that two children on bicycles were crossing Johns Hopkins Road from Nantucket Drive when one of them was struck by a 1992 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling eastbound on Johns Hopkins Road. 
 
The injured bicyclist was transported by a Maryland State Police Helicopter to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of his critical injuries. The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene. He was not injured. The other bicyclist was not injured. 
  
The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Northern District

Robbery (Citizen) - Glen Burnie

On September 19, 2023, at approximately 11:40 a.m., officers responded to a residence in Brooklyn for a report of a robbery that occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m. in the area of Glenmont Avenue and Burke Avenue in Glen Burnie. The 14-year-old male victim and his friend were walking when they were approached by a group of 10 Hispanic males and females. One of the males in the group pointed a handgun at the victim and took the victim’s cell phone. The victim and his friend ran away from the group, and the victim was picked up by his grandmother, who drove him home to report the incident. Burglary / Hate Crime (Place of Worship) - Linthicum Heights

On September 19, 2023, at approximately 7:10 p.m., an officer met with a victim who reported a burglary at the Friendship Church of the Brethren located at 217 Mansion Road in Linthicum Heights. The victim reported that between September 15, 2023, and September 16, 2023, an unknown suspect or suspects entered the church during off hours and damaged three interior doors. The reporting person does not believe anything was taken from the church. Eastern District

First-Degree Assault - Glen Burnie

On September 19th at 8:00 a.m., officers responded for an assault that occurred in the 8000 block of Green Orchard Road in Glen Burnie. The 29-year-old male victim was outside when a female suspect, who is known to him from a prior interaction, pointed a handgun at him and allegedly threatened to kill him. The female then drove away. Officers were able to identify the suspect, who was arrested and charged.

Western District

Assault / Weapons violation - Laurel 
23-734469

On September 19, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded for an assault at the Travelodge located at 3380 Laurel Fort Meade Road in Laurel. Responding officers learned that occupants of separate rooms were engaged in an argument when one of the occupants pointed a handgun at the other. The investigation led to the seizure of a loaded 22-caliber revolver. Officers determined the suspect is prohibited from possessing firearms and also had several open arrest warrants. The suspect was taken into custody and charged.
