Northern District

Serious Injury Pedestrian Crash - Brooklyn Park
23-736193

On October 2, 2023, at approximately 4:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Ritchie Highway near Creswell Road for a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that a Ford Explorer was traveling south on Ritchie Highway when it encountered a pedestrian lying in the roadway. The driver of the Ford exhausted all attempts to avoid striking the pedestrian but could not do so. The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for advanced medical care. The driver of the Ford called 911 to summons assistance and remained on the scene until emergency crews arrived. The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Northern District

Theft of ATM - Glen Burnie

On October 1, 2023, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded for a report of a theft of a free-standing ATM at the Carroll Motor Fuels located at 7401 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie. The investigation revealed that a Maroon 2006 Ford Van backed into the stand-alone ATM machine outside of the business, causing the ATM to break free from its base. Several suspects got out of the vehicle, loaded the ATM into the van, and fled. Northern District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6135. Northern District

Shooting (Non-Contact) / Reckless Endangerment - Glen Burnie

On October 2, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded for a report of burglary in the 6400 block of Bricktown Circle in Glen Burnie. Responding officers discovered that an adult male fired shots through his bedroom door at what he believed was an intruder trying to enter the bedroom. The male initially refused to put his handgun down so officers could enter; however, officers were able to get him to comply after a short negotiation. Officers learned that the suspect fired four rounds through his bedroom door, striking a pipe and causing water to flood the apartment. Officers did not observe any evidence of a burglary at the residence. Officers seized the 9mm handgun, and the male, who was found to be prohibited from possessing firearms, was arrested and charged.

Shooting (Non-Contact) - Glen Burnie

On October 2, 2023, at approximately 1:40 a.m., officers responded for a non-contact shooting in the unit block of Ivy Lane in Glen Burnie. Upon arrival, officers noticed several shell casings on the ground and that a residence was damaged by the projectiles. The residents of the damaged home advised officers that they were inside when they heard gunfire. No occupants of the residence reported any injuries. Western District

Serious Injury Crash
23-736135

On October 1, 2023, at 3:34 pm, Western District officers responded to a traffic crash in the 2500 block of Davidsonville Road in Gambrills, MD. The investigation revealed a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling northbound on Davidsonville Road when it began to make a left turn into a residential driveway. A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling southbound on Davidsonville Road approaching the same location and the two vehicles collided. The driver of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The right rear passenger of the Jeep was identified as a 4-year-old male, who was properly restrained in a car seat, had sustained life-threatening injuries. The child was taken to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Trauma Center in Baltimore by Maryland State Police helicopter for advanced medical care. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.
 
While at the scene, the driver of the Chevrolet exhibited evidence of alcohol consumption. The driver was transported to the Eastern District where he was given an evidentiary test for breath alcohol content and tested positive for alcohol in excess of a .08%. The driver was charged as follows:
