Contact Shooting (ARREST UPDATE) - Glen Burnie

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Northern District officers and K9 responded to the unit block of Brooks Terrace Road in Glen Burnie for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers observed a large crowd gathered and located an adult male victim outside suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Fire Department personnel arrived and transported the victim to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland for treatment. Preliminary investigation revealed that a memorial service was held for the recently deceased owner of the house. During the memorial service, a fight broke out, and an unknown suspect shot the victim and then fled on foot. Northern District detectives have assumed responsibility for the investigation. Arrest Update (October 14, 2025):
Through investigative means, detectives assigned to the Northern District identified a suspect in this case. On October 14, 2025, detectives executed a search warrant in Severn, resulting in the seizure of evidence believed to be related to the crime and the apprehension of the suspect, 30-year-old Philip Dean Bell. Bell was charged with First- and Second-Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and related weapons offense violations.
