On March 21, 2025, the Anne Arundel County Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into the suspected theft and misappropriation of funds by the former treasurer of the Pasadena Buccaneers Athletic Club, a volunteer-driven organization committed to mentoring local youth through comprehensive sports programming and dedicated coaching. The former treasurer was identified as 45-year-old Kelley Ann Haley of Pasadena, Maryland. The club president reported suspected deliberate manipulation of the club's accounting records by Haley to hide debts and alter expenses.
The investigation revealed that between January 2019 and March 2025, Haley used debit cards belonging to the club and used them for extensive personal gain without authorization. Detectives compiled evidence showing hundreds of fraudulent transactions and ATM withdrawals totaling more than $242,500.
On April 28, 2026, Kelley Ann Haley was charged on a Criminal Summons with Theft Scheme: $100,000 Plus, Theft: $100,000 Plus, and two counts of embezzlement and misappropriation of funds.
