First-Degree Assault - Glen Burnie

On May 20, 2023, at approximately 12:05 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a citizen to report a road rage incident. The suspect, who was operating a green ATV, cut the victim off in traffic on Ritchie Highway at Norman Road, and an argument ensued. During the argument, the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim. The suspect fled the area on the ATV. The victim described the suspect as a Latino male wearing a black helmet, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun. Northern District detectives are investigating the incident and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6135 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

 

Eastern District
First-Degree Assault - Pasadena

On May 21, 2023, at approximately 1:40 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 8000 block of Belhaven Avenue in Pasadena for an assault. The victim and suspect were engaged in an argument when the suspect threatened the victim with a machete. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Shooting (Non-contact) - Hanover

On May 21, 2023, at approximately 12:00 a.m., officers responded for a report of shots being fired in the 2100 block of Piney Branch Circle in Hanover. Upon arrival, officers located two females arguing in front of the building. The victim advised during the argument, the suspect hit her with a firearm and discharged it in the air. The suspect was detained, and a firearm was later located in her apartment. The firearm was recovered along with a spent shell casing. There were no reports of physical or property damage as a result of the shooting. A check of the firearm revealed it was reported stolen out of Georgia. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Weapon Offense - Severn

On May 22, 2023, at approximately 12:15 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Pioneer Drive and Arwell Court in Severn. A search of the vehicle based on probable cause resulted in the seizure of a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun. The driver is prohibited from possessing firearms and was arrested and charged accordingly.

Weapons Offense - Edgewater

On May 21, 2023, at approximately 9:45 p.m., an officer observed a black Nissan Altima occupied by a male and a female parked in Edgewater Park, which was closed. A search of the vehicle based on probable cause resulted in the seizure of a loaded .38 caliber handgun. Both occupants were arrested and charged accordingly.

Southern District 
Fatal Crash Investigation - Galesville

On May 21, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded for a report of a motor vehicle collision in the 4500 block of Muddy Creek Road in Galesville. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling southbound on Muddy Creek Road and a 2004 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was traveling northbound. The motorcyclist crossed the center lines into the northbound lane while attempting to pass another southbound vehicle. The motorcyclist was unable to avoid striking the front of the Toyota and was ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department. The driver of the Toyota was not injured.

This crash is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Theft (Hate / Bias) - Odenton

On May 16, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers were conducting periodic checks of the Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church, 8424 Piney Orchard Parkway in Odenton, due to numerous thefts at the location when they were advised of a theft. The victim stated that six rainbow-colored plastic hearts that were surrounding their LGBTQ+ sign were stolen. Western District detectives are investigating the theft and ask that anyone with information contact them at (410) 222-6155 or the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at (410) 222-4700.

Theft (Hate / Bias) - Odenton

On May 17, 2023, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded for a report of a theft that occurred at the Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church, 8424 Piney Orchard Parkway in Odenton. The victim informed officers that five rainbow-colored plastic hearts from around an LGBTQ+ sign were stolen sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. A review of surveillance footage showed the suspect appeared to be the same suspect from the previous theft at the same location. Western District detectives are investigating the theft and ask that anyone with information contact them at (410) 222-6155 or the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at (410) 222-4700.

Theft (Hate / Bias) - Odenton

On May 19, 2023, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Western District detectives observed a male suspect park his vehicle in the 8400 block of Piney Orchard Parkway in Odenton and approach the Ark and Dove Presbyterian Church property, 8424 Piney Orchard Parkway. The suspect walked straight toward the LGBTQ+ sign. When the suspect reached the sign, he began removing the rainbow hearts surrounding it. As detectives approached the suspect he fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.
