On Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 12:26 p.m. officers were dispatched to a deceased body found in a wooded area off of Ordnance Road and Route 10. A Forensic Investigator with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the location and determined the victim had suffered trauma. The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy this morning. Cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner. UPDATE:
Homicide detectives and evidence collection personnel have been working on this case since Sunday. Through witness interviews and evidence recovered on scene and from the suspect they were able to charge Michael Joseph Grossman 49-year-old (no fixed address.) Grossman has been charged with first and second degree murder in the June 2, 2019 killing of Kenneth Gene Linton, a 57-year-old male with no fixed address. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be upper body trauma with the manner being homicide. Davidsonville/Police Involved Shooting
 
On May 31, 2019 at approximately 9:44 pm we responded to a report of a possible crash involving a pedestrian on Route 50 eastbound right before MD-424. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department arrived first on scene and were immediately confronted/threatened by an armed man. Fire Personnel called for police to rush their response. An officer arrived moments later and confronted the armed suspect before he injured any of the on-scene fire personnel. The suspect failed to comply with the officer's orders to drop the weapon (a knife) and get on the ground. The officer fired one round striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to an area hospital. There were no injuries to fire or police personnel.
 
The officer involved is a 20 year veteran of the department assigned to the Bureau of Patrol. Detectives are still on scene and Route 50 east is still closed. UPDATE 1:
The suspect is currently at an area hospital where he will remain under police guard until he is released. There is an active warrant charging the suspect with seven (7) counts of each of the following; first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Upon release he will be processed at a station and served his charges, his name will not be released until that time.
 
The officer involved is Cpl. R Heller a 20-year-veteran of the department assigned to the Bureau of Patrol. There are no further expected updates until the suspect is released from the hospital.
 
UPDATE 2 (June 3, 2019):
During numerous witness interviews it was learned that the suspect was walking/standing in the travel lanes of Route 50 in what several people said appeared to be an attempt to get struck. Witness on scene advised they believed the suspect was struck by an on-scene vehicle prior to fire personnel arriving.
 
As of the last status check at 6:30 this morning the suspect is still alive and in grave condition, under-guard at an area hospital.
 
UPDATE 3 (June 4, 2019):
On June 4, 2019 at 4:42 a.m. the suspect in this case was pronounced deceased at an area hospital. He will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy that is scheduled for tomorrow. There is no further information at this time.

Armed Robbery/Ft. Meade
 
On June 3, 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m. officers responded to a call for a robbery that occurred at the parking lot entrance to Meade Middle School, 1103 26th St., Ft. Meade. The male juvenile victim advised that he was walking in the area when he was approached by two suspects. Suspect one asked the victim if he could borrow his phone to make a call. The victim next willfully handed the phone to suspect one. Suspect one yelled, “do you have any money” while striking the victim with his hands. Suspect one continued to assault the victim, when the victim was able to get back to his feet suspect two pulled out a handgun. The victim ran away and called for assistance. The Anne Arundel County Police Department has primary jurisdiction on school property on Ft. Meade. Ft. Meade police were made aware of the incident. Western District Detectives are handling the investigation and are asking anyone with any information to call 410-222-6155 or the TipLine 410-222-4700.
