Weapons Offense / Recovered Stolen Auto - Glen Burnie

On June 16, 2023, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Northern District Strategic Patrol detectives were conducting routine patrol when they observed a silver, 2019 Hyundai sedan with the engine running and driverless. As detectives approached the vehicle, two female occupants fled from the back seat on foot. Detectives were able to detain both females without incident. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s ignition appeared to be tampered with and was confirmed as stolen. During a search of the vehicle detectives located a loaded black semi-automatic handgun within the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Both suspects were arrested and charged accordingly.

On June 18, 2023, at approximately 4:45 a.m., officers responded for a report of an unconscious driver in the area of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Amberly Road in Glen Burnie. Upon walking up to the driver they observed a black semi-automatic handgun in plain view on the driver’s lap. The driver was taken into custody without incident. Further investigation led officers to recover 34 capsules of suspected Heroin, approximately 4.2g of suspected crack cocaine, 1.8g of suspected powder cocaine, a civil amount of suspected marijuana, an unknown pill, four cellular telephones, and $310 in U.S. currency. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.

Shooting (Contact) - Severn

On June 17, 2023, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers responded for a report of a shooting that just occurred in the area of Marlton Court and Stillmeadow Drive in Severn. Officers arrived at a large group of subjects in the area and determined that approximately five vehicles and five residences were struck by gunfire. Officers went on to locate an unoccupied, blue 2017 Hyundai sedan, which was crashed into a wooded area across from Marlton Court. Investigation revealed that the Hyundai sedan was reported stolen earlier the same day. As officers continued their investigation they learned the occupants of the stolen car drove into the area and at least one of those occupants fired shots into a group of people that were standing in the area. Several people from the group drew handguns and fired back at the vehicle. As officers were assessing the scene on Marlton Court they received information that a group of subjects were seen jumping over residential fences in the 8200 block of Pioneer Drive in Severn, which is adjacent to the shooting scene. Officers made contact with a group of subjects in the area described by the complainant. Officers found that one of the subjects was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg and forearm. The shooting victim was transported to an area trauma center for treatment of what was described as non-life-threatening injuries. Officers went on to learn that two additional victims were struck by vehicles immediately following the shooting as they were fleeing, none of the injuries were described as life-threatening. Strongarm Robbery (Citizen) - Crofton

On June 18, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a shoplifting/strongarm robbery that just occurred at the Dollar General, 2203 Defense Highway in Crofton. Investigation revealed that two suspects were exiting the store and passing the anti-theft security gates when the alarm sounded. An employee started to follow the suspects as they walked towards the parking lot when the male suspect attempted to pepper spray the employee. A witness was recording the incident on their phone, when the male suspect approached them, pushed them to the ground, and stole their phone. Both suspects entered a white Mitsubishi SUV and fled the area. Assault - Hanover

On June 18, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a dirt bike in the area of Coca-Cola Drive and Maryland Route 100 in Hanover. Investigation revealed the driver of the pickup truck believed that he was the owner of the dirt bike, which was reported stolen. Officers went on to learn that the driver of the pickup intentionally positioned his truck to pin the dirt bike and its rider against the guardrail in an attempt to prevent the dirt bike from fleeing. The operator of the dirt bike was not injured. The dirt bike was confirmed as stolen, but did not belong to the driver of the pickup, rather it belonged to an associate of his. After departing the accident scene the operator of the dirt bike informed officers that the driver of the pickup and his passenger threatened him with handguns after pinning him to the guardrail. Both the driver of the pickup and the dirt bike were arrested and charged accordingly. Charges are pending against the passenger of the pickup.
