Criminal Investigation Division - Major Crimes Section
 
On June 4th 2019, at approximately 9:22 a.m., the Anne Arundel County Police responded to North County High School located at 10 1st Avenue East, Glen Burnie Maryland in reference to a sex offense that had occurred earlier. Responding officers made contact with the teenage victim who is a student at North County High School as well as the Center of Applied Technologies North located at 800 Stevenson Road, Severn Maryland. The victim reported a substitute teacher had engaged in sexual activities with him as well as supplied him alcohol.
 
The Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit began an investigation into the allegation. The suspect was identified as Anne Arundel County substitute teacher Alexis Merecedes Boberg, a twenty-five year old female from the 8200 block of Quarterfield Road, Severn, Maryland. The victim stated in May 2019, Alexis Boberg exchanged phone numbers with him and then would meet the victim off of school property at various locations during the month of May. It was during those times when the suspect, Ms. Boberg, supplied the minor with alcohol and engaged in the sexual activities.
 
On June 5th 2019, Detectives assigned to the Child Abuse Unit executed a search warrant at the suspect’s address. Numerous items were taken into police custody which were secured as evidence. Through witness interviews and recovered evidence, detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Friday, June 14, 2019 charging Alexis Boberg with two counts of a Fourth Degree Sex Offense with a person in a position of authority along with one count of consuming an alcoholic beverage while on public property.   On Monday, June 17, 2019 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Alexis Boberg responded to the Western District Police Station in Odenton Maryland where she was taken into custody without incident.
 
The Anne Arundel County School Board immediately removed the suspect from having any further contact with children when they were notified of the allegation. As the investigation continues the Anne Arundel County Police is urging any other victims or anyone with information on this incident to contact the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733. One can also remain anonymous by calling the Anne Arundel County Tip Line 410-222-4700 or Metro Crime Stoppers.

 
 
 
Traffic Safety Section - Serious Injury Crash/Saint Margarets
 
On June 17th 2018 at approximately 7:46 a.m. officers responded to a injured subject call on Pleasant Plains Road near Weems Farm Road in St Margarets. On arrival, officers determined that it was in fact a motor vehicle crash involving a trash truck owned by MGB Leasing contracted for residential trash pickup.
 
The truck was southbound on Pleasant Plains Road with two workers riding on the rear platforms performing trash pickups. The driver attempted to give northbound traffic more room by moving to the right edge of his lane when his right side rear tires slipped off the roadway. The truck then glanced off a utility pole which struck the right rear passenger, knocking him off the truck.
 
Passenger #1 was taken to an area trauma center with critical life- threatening injuries. Passenger #2 was taken to an area trauma center with minor injuries. The driver was not injured.
 
The preliminary cause of the crash is failing to remain in a single lane. There is no indication of excessive speed, drug or alcohol use. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.

Western District - Citizen Robbery/Hanover
 
On June 16, 2019 at approximately 3:20 p.m. officers responded to a robbery of a citizen which occurred behind the Taco Bell located at 2639 Annapolis Road. Two citizens witnessed a subject approach a male seated on the curb behind the business, push him backwards onto the ground, and then forcefully go through his pockets. The witnesses advised the suspect left the area eastbound on Annapolis Road in a black Nissan truck and provided Maryland registration Z74456.
 
While responding to the call an officer observed the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Annapolis Road and Reece Road. The vehicle was stopped and the suspect was detained. The subject was positively identified as the suspect in the above robbery.

Northern District - CDS Distribution (Arrest) /Glen Burnie
 
In May of 2019, Northern District Narcotics Detectives received information regarding possible CDS distribution in the area of 101 North Crain Highway in Glen Burnie. Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify two subjects allegedly involved in CDS distribution. On June 14, 2019 detectives arrested and charged Jonathan O’Connor and Frank Saia. Recovered from Frank Saia were 85 suspected alprazolam pills.

Eastern District - Fatal Crash / Pasadena
 
On June 16, 2019 at approximately 1:01 a.m., officers responded to Mountain Road at Lake Shore Drive in Pasadena for a single vehicle crash into a pole.
 
The Kia was traveling eastbound on Mountain Road when the driver lost control, left the right side of the roadway and struck a sign pole in front 4499 Mountain Rd. The driver of the Kia was pronounced deceased at the scene by Fire Department personnel and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy. 
 
The primary cause of the crash was the driver failing to remain in a single lane. There is no indication impairment was a factor. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the crash investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.
