Fatal Crash - Glen Burnie

On February 2, 2024, at approximately 7:10 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 10 North near Mountain Road in Glen Burnie. The investigation revealed a 2011 Nissan Frontier was traveling north on Route 10 in the left lane when it drove onto the left shoulder and then entered the center median. The vehicle lost control in the median and reentered the roadway, where it rotated, crossing all northbound lanes. The vehicle then drove onto the right shoulder and struck a culvert, where it rolled onto its driver’s side and struck two trees before coming to rest. The driver of the Nissan sustained fatal injuries and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating this crash.

Weapons Offense - Linthicum

On February 3, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers responded to Embassy Suites located at 1300 Concourse Drive in Linthicum for a fight. Officers arrived on-scene and observed over 200 people in the lobby fighting. Through investigation, witnesses stated approximately two males wearing ski masks had a handgun, and an unknown suspect pepper sprayed additional people. Officers located the two suspects, who were 15 years old and 16 years old and recovered a handgun from each juvenile. The 15-year-old and 16-year-old were charged accordingly.

On February 5, 2024, at approximately 2:10 a.m., officers were checking on an occupied parked vehicle in a county park in Brooklyn. Officers approached the vehicle and observed an adult male and an adult female in the vehicle. Through investigation, officers recovered suspected heroin, suspected crack cocaine, various CDS paraphernalia, and a handgun with a loaded magazine. The suspects were arrested and charged accordingly.

Carjacking - Pasadena

On February 2, 2024, at approximately 5:55 p.m., officers responded for a carjacking at the Walmart located at 8107 Ritchie Highway in Pasadena. The investigation revealed a male suspect approached the 69-year-old female victim, brandished a knife, and ordered her to get out of her car, a black 2006 Mercedes convertible sedan. The suspect fled in the stolen Mercedes toward Jumpers Hole Road. The vehicle was located, unoccupied, in the area of Northwest Street and West Washington Street in Annapolis. Officers with the Annapolis Police Department responded along with Anne Arundel County Police detectives. Video surveillance provided officers with an image of the suspect, who returned to the vehicle and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. He was found to be in possession of the vehicle keys. The knife used in the robbery was found inside the Mercedes.

On February 3, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of Highland Drive in Glen Burnie for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located multiple shell casings. A witness stated they observed two males engaged in an argument in the parking lot just before the shots were fired. No damage or injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Western District

Shooting (Non-Contact) - Severn

On February 3, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers responded for a report of gunshots in the 300 block of Jena Circle in Severn. As officers were entering the neighborhood, they observed a silver Nissan sedan leaving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped on Annapolis Road near Reese Road. Officers located two 9mm Polymer 80 handguns and numerous rounds of live ammunition in the vehicle. A clear small bag containing 7 suspected Fentanyl pills and two small scales were also found within the vehicle. Numerous spent shell casings were located at the scene of the shooting. A green 2021 Toyota Tacoma was located at the scene with a bullet hole in the rear right passenger side door. A stolen 9mm Glock 19 with an auto switch and empty extended magazine was later located on the side of the road near where the traffic stop was conducted. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Both vehicle occupants were arrested and charged.

On February 3, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers responded for an assault at a residence in the 1800 block of Blue Jay Court in Severn. The investigation revealed there was an argument between two males. The argument escalated, and one of the males assaulted the other with a knife, causing serious, life-threatening injuries to the 28-year-old victim’s torso. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The suspect was located at the scene and taken into custody. The knife was recovered by officers. The suspect was arrested and charged.

Fatal Crash - Laurel

On February 5, 2024, at 0139 hours, officers assigned to the Western District responded to a single-vehicle crash on Brock Bridge Road south of River Bridge Way in Laurel. The investigation revealed a 2021 Mercedes GLC300 was traveling north on Brock Bridge Road when it failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway. The Mercedes left the right side of the road and struck a tree. The driver of the Mercedes was pronounced deceased at the scene by Prince George’s County EMS and was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy. There were no witnesses to this crash. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating this crash.

Southern District

Serious Injury Crash - Edgewater

On February 3, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Mayo Road at Blue Ridge Road in Edgewater. The investigation would reveal that a 2004 Toyota Corolla was traveling west on Blue Ridge Road, approaching the intersection with Mayo Road. A 2014 Ford Fusion was traveling north on Mayo Road approaching the same intersection when the Toyota failed to yield right-of-way and entered the intersection, where it was struck by the Ford. The Toyota then rotated and struck an unoccupied BMW before coming to rest. The driver of the Toyota sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by helicopter for advanced medical care. The driver and passenger of the Ford were not injured. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating this crash.
