Attempt Carjacking - Brooklyn

On August 1, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a robbery that just occurred in the area of Thomas Avenue and Alley 13 in Brooklyn. As officers were arriving in the area, dispatch advised that the suspects assaulted the victim and stole her keys. The suspects attempted to take the victim's vehicle but would eventually flee on foot after being unable to start the vehicle. The suspect description was broadcast as three black juvenile females. As officers were canvasing the area, they located three subjects matching the description provided by the victim and a witness in the 900 block of 1st Avenue. Through their investigation, officers learned that all three of the subjects that they located were involved in the robbery. Once the suspects were in custody, officers located evidence related to the robbery in the immediate vicinity where the suspects were seated. During the investigation, officers learned that the suspects arrived in a white KIA SUV, which was found parked across from the scene of the robbery. Officers discovered that the KIA SUV was reported stolen earlier in the day from a neighboring jurisdiction. All three suspects were arrested and charged accordingly.

Motor Vehicle Theft - Brooklyn

On August 1, 2023, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Baltimore Police Aviation alerted officers of a stolen vehicle at Doris Avenue and 4th Street in Brooklyn. Five juvenile suspects were observed getting out of the vehicle, a red Hyundai Sonata and entering a silver Kia Sportage and driving away. At approximately 12:05 a.m., the Kia returned to the area and crashed into a yard at Doris Avenue and 4th Street in Brooklyn. Five juvenile suspects fled the vehicle; four were quickly apprehended. The fifth suspect was taken into custody after a lengthy foot pursuit. Three of the suspects were arrested and charged accordingly. Two suspects were precluded from charges due to their age.

Robbery of a Citizen - Glen Burnie

On August 2, 2023, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers responded for a report of a robbery that just occurred in the 8000 block of Green Orchard Road in Glen Burnie. Investigation revealed that the victim met the suspect through a social media app, and the two agreed to meet in person near the intersection of Green Orchard Road and Green Branch Lane. When the victim and suspect met, the suspect produced a handgun, robbed the victim of his cell phone, and fled on foot in the direction of Chesapeake Glen Apartments. Assist other Agency/Armed Robbery - Laurel

On August 1, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers responded to the area of Charlotte Drive and Jill Lane in Laurel in reference to an armed robbery that occurred earlier in Prince Georges's County. As officers were responding to the area, they observed the suspect vehicle, a silver Hyundai Sonata at the intersection of Laurel Fort Meade Road and Old Annapolis Road. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the driver sped off. Officers pursued the vehicle onto a dead-end street, where the driver stopped, and the occupants were taken into custody without further incident. Prince George's County Police detectives responded to the scene. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.

Fatal Collision - Glen Burnie (UPDATE)

On August 1, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Ritchie Highway at Norfolk Road in Glen Burnie. The preliminary investigation would reveal that a 2021 Ford SUV was traveling southbound on Ritchie Highway approaching Norfolk Road. At the same time, a 2016 Toyota sedan was traveling northbound on Ritchie Highway and attempted to make a left turn onto Norfolk Road into the path of the Ford, causing a collision.
 
The driver and passenger of the Toyota sustained life-threatening injuries and were taken to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for advanced medical care. The passenger was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries. Notifications are pending for the fatality.
 
The Traffic Safety Section is investigating.
