Shooting (Non-Contact) - Brooklyn Park

On August 11, 2023, at approximately 9:10 p.m., officers responded for a report of shots fired in the area of Patrick Henry Drive and Dell Street in Brooklyn Park. Witnesses reported seeing a white sedan in the area as the shots were being fired. Responding officers observed a white Honda leaving the area. As officers stopped the vehicle, two passengers fled, and the driver was apprehended. One of the passengers was quickly located and taken into custody. A 9mm handgun was located in the Honda. Both suspects were charged accordingly.

Northern District
Robbery (Citizen) - Glen Burnie

On August 11, 2023, at approximately 11:15 p.m., officers responded for a robbery of a citizen in the area of Ritchie Highway and I-695 in Glen Burnie. The 20-year-old male victim was walking northbound on Ritchie Highway when he was approached by two black male suspects riding dirtbikes. One of the suspects ordered the victim to turn over his property while the other put a hard object against the victim’s back. The victim could not tell what the object was. The victim complied, and the suspects fled on the dirtbikes northbound on Ritchie Highway. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. Eastern District

Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

On August 12, 2023, at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers responded to the 8100 block of Ritchie Highway for a crash involving a box truck and a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that a pedestrian was in the travel portion of southbound Ritchie Highway when he was struck by a 2016 Ford E-350 box truck operated by a 34-year-old male from Arnold. The pedestrian was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Ford was not injured. The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Western District

1st Degree Assault - Gambrills

On August 13, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers responded for a report of a road rage incident involving a firearm in the area of April Dawn Way and Maytime Drive in Gambrills. The victim informed officers that while confronting the occupants of a car that was speeding through the area, the passenger of the car pointed a brown and black colored handgun at him and drove away. During their investigation, officers located the suspect vehicle, as described by the victim, in the 2600 block of April Dawn Way. The alleged suspect was quickly located, and as officers attempted to arrest the suspect, he resisted, kicked, and spat on several officers. Western District detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and subsequently recovered three handguns, a modified shotgun, an AR-style pistol, and related ammunition. One of the semi-automatic handguns recovered matched the description of the handgun used in the incident that was provided by the victim. Detectives went on to learn that two of the handguns, the shotgun, and the AR-style pistol, had no serial numbers and or they had been altered or removed. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Southern District

Armed Carjacking (Arrest Update) - Edgewater

On June 24, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded for a report of an armed carjacking that just occurred in the 300 block of Hamlet Circle in Edgewater. Officers met with the elderly female victim, who advised she was sitting in her vehicle in the driveway of her residence. The victim was approached by three black males and one black female, whom she believed arrived in a white sedan. The suspects began to bang on the victim's windows, and one of the male suspects produced a black handgun and pointed it at the victim. The victim got out of the vehicle, and the black female suspect took the victim's purse. The suspects pushed the victim to the ground, got into her vehicle, and fled toward Mitchells Chance Road. The white sedan fled as the suspects fled in the victim's vehicle. The victim suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Officers located the victim's unoccupied vehicle a short time later in the area of Central Avenue and Beards Point Road. Update - August 14, 2023

Through investigative means, Southern District detectives identified and charged one of the suspects involved in this carjacking, a 15-year-old male from Washington, DC. The investigation is open and ongoing in an effort to identify the other suspects involved, and detectives ask that anyone with information contact 410-222-1960 or the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
