Northern District Detectives Charge Suspect in Destruction to Property at Lindale Middle School
On April 6, 2026, at approximately 4:25 p.m., a Northern District officer responded to the Lindale Middle School sports fields on Andover Road in Linthicum for a report of vandalism. The responding officer spoke with school staff who indicated someone had driven a vehicle over three different sporting fields between April 3rd and April 5th, causing extensive damage to those fields to include a lacrosse field, a practice field, and a baseball field. Northern District detectives initiated an investigation and began working closely with school personnel, vetting tips from the community, and reviewing security footage which showed a red and black off-road vehicle driving at high rates of speed and causing damage to the fields.
On April 5, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Northern District officer observed a red and black off-road vehicle covered in mud driving past on Nursery Road heading towards B&A Boulevard. As the vehicle was passing the officer, it went off the roadway and across the grassy area of properties. The officer conducted a traffic stop, identified the operator and issued several traffic citations. Additional investigation the following day revealed the vehicle was the same vehicle involved in the destruction to property at Lindale Middle School over the weekend. The operator, identified as Benjamin Cody Finney, 32, of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, was charged on a criminal summons with malicious destruction of property and two counts of trespassing.
Although a suspect has been charged, the investigation is ongoing and Northern District detectives ask anyone in the Linthicum area with similar damage to their property or any potential video footage to contact 410-222-6135 to assist them with this active investigation. Individuals wishing to remain anonymous are encouraged to call the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
