End of Life Services

Anne Arundel County Department of Animal Services offers a low cost option for Anne Arundel County Residents who have made the difficult decision to say goodbye to their beloved pets. These services are performed by Technicians who are certified in Humane Euthanasia.

Choosing the right time to say goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the most difficult decisions a pet owner can make. When that decision has been made, Anne Arundel County Animal Services is here to help. We offer low-cost euthanasia and communal cremation to assist Anne Arundel County residents through this difficult time.

These services are performed by appointment only and there is limited availability. We will make every effort to accommodate pets in need, but please note that if your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, you may be directed to your primary care veterinarian or an emergency hospital.

We are unable to allow owners to be present for the euthanasia process and we do not offer private cremation services.


Owner Requirements

Animal Services requires animal owners requesting euthanasia to provide the following:

  • A drivers license or government issued photo ID (for identification and proof of county residency) 
  • Proof of Ownership of the animal (veterinary records, proof of license, etc.) 
  • All applicable fees due at the time service will be provided

Services Offered and Applicable Fees

  • Euthanasia by a certified technician - $5.00 
  • Communal Cremation - $0.79/pound

If you wish to bring your pet elsewhere for private cremation, please let the Technician know at the beginning of your appointment.  


How to Schedule

Appointments can be made by phone or by email. Please note that appointments fill up quickly, and there is limited availability for same or next day appointments.

If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency and it is outside of our normal business hours, please direct your call to your primary veterinarian or to an emergency hospital.
