Glen Burnie, MD (October 22, 2026) – Anne Arundel County officials have lifted the 150-foot safety perimeter surrounding Empire Towers at 7310 Ritchie Highway following the completion of Phase 2 stabilization work and structural certification.
Yesterday afternoon, representatives for the building owner notified the county that their crews had successfully completed Phase 2 of the stabilization work. The Department of Inspections & Permits conducted its inspection onsite today and reviewed the inspection reports and engineer's certification to determine that the building is stabilized and the 150-foot perimeter can be lifted.
The county is coordinating with the Maryland State Highway Administration to remove the road barricades so that normal traffic flow can resume. Empire Towers representatives are coordinating with their contractors to reroute the fencing so neighboring businesses may access their buildings. This work is expected to be completed by Monday.
At this time, Empire Towers and the private parking garage remain closed to public access. The building owner and management company will continue to provide updates to impacted individuals.
