Assault Arrest Update - Glen Burnie

On August 16, 2026, at approximately 10:25 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the 400 block of Morningside Drive for a report of a physical disturbance. Upon arrival, officers encountered an adult male suspect inside the residence who was displaying erratic behavior. Officers discovered three victims at the scene who had sustained stab wounds. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation and ultimately had to deploy Tasers to safely take the suspect into custody. Emergency medical personnel transported all three victims to an area hospital, where they are listed in stable condition. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Update (August 18, 2026):
The suspect is identified as 38-year-old Ryan David Matthews of Glen Burnie, Maryland. Matthews has been charged with three counts of attempted first- and second-degree murder, three counts of first-degree assault, five counts of second-degree assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, and related weapons charges.
