Annapolis, MD (July 24, 2026) – Anne Arundel County has reaffirmed its position as a leader in effective local government operations with Chief Administrative Officer Christine Anderson earning the prestigious Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
Anderson is one of just 18 local government executives in the state of Maryland—and fewer than 1,300 worldwide—to hold the ICMA Credentialed Manager (ICMA-CM) status. The designation demonstrates Anne Arundel County’s commitment to leadership, ethical management, and effective public stewardship across all executive departments.

Anderson brings 27 years of dedicated public sector leadership to her role as Chief Administrative Officer. Before her appointment in 2022, she served as Director of Central Services and Assistant Director of the Department of Public Works for Anne Arundel County, following 12 years of administrative experience within the State of Maryland.
To achieve the ICMA credential, local government leaders must possess extensive executive-level management experience, hold advanced academic qualifications, and undergo rigorous peer review.
