Carjacking Arrest / Officer-Involved Shooting - Severn

On May 7, 2026, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Northern District officers responded to the area of N. Crain Highway and 11th Avenue in Glen Burnie for a report of a hit-and-run collision. Once on scene, officers learned the operator had crashed her vehicle into another vehicle and then forcibly took the vehicle of a family member who was responding to the scene to assist her after the initial motor vehicle collision.
Western District officers later located the suspect vehicle and its operator, who was still inside the vehicle in the 8500 block of Pioneer Drive in Severn. The suspect drove towards the officers, striking an officer, two patrol vehicles, and a civilian vehicle. Officers subsequently discharged their departmentally issued firearms, striking the suspect as she drove towards them. The suspect then fled in the same vehicle on Pioneer Drive.
Additional officers responding to the scene observed the suspect as she turned onto Reece Road from Pioneer Drive. The suspect then crashed into a civilian vehicle in the area of Reece Road and Telegraph Road. The suspect exited her vehicle and was attempting to gain entry into another occupied vehicle when detectives apprehended her.
Officers and Fire personnel rendered treatment to the suspect, who was transported to an area trauma center for treatment of the non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury and has since been released.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene to assume responsibility for the investigation. The investigation is ongoing with charges pending against the adult female suspect.
The officers will be placed on administrative leave pending review by the Office of Professional Standards.
