In Anne Arundel County, food insecurity knows no age boundaries. From young people to seniors on fixed incomes, 11% of our county population is food insecure. It was an honor to attend the Anne Arundel County Food Banks gala this evening, with Councilman Nathan Volke and Shannon Leadbetter for Anne Arundel County Council District 7, recognizing the efforts of the volunteers and staff who help feed county residents and support our food pantries in District 5 and all over the county.
It was an outstanding event! Hats off to the structural engineering team who built the 3000lb canned goods wall with a message and watermelon slice on top. All cans in the display will go to the food pantry for distribution.
