Annapolis, MD - On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, County Executive Pittman will join U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Senator Angela Alsobrooks, and Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth in Anne Arundel County to highlight over $8 million in Congressionally Directed Spending they fought to deliver for infrastructure, public safety, and community resource projects. The federal lawmakers secured these investments within the government funding bills passed and signed into law for Fiscal Year 2026.

At 10:30 am, they will visit the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County for a press conference highlighting $697,000 in federal funding secured to support victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse through education, workforce development, and rehousing assistance. The lawmakers will present YWCA CEO Molly Knipe with a ceremonial check marking the delivery of the funding.

At 11:45 am, they will join Anne Arundel County leaders for a press conference to highlight $7,650,000 in direct federal funding they secured to equip a Joint 911 Public Safety Center, rehabilitate the Meyer Building at the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park, and support gun violence prevention efforts in the County’s neighborhoods. They will also highlight $133,000 secured for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank to purchase a new refrigerated vehicle, which will support the Food Bank’s weekly donation pickups and ensure the safe delivery of items to the warehouse for distribution to low-income residents. The federal lawmakers will present Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman and Food Bank CEO Leah Paley with a ceremonial check marking the delivery of the funding.

Both events are open to the press. Please confirm attendance to Cassandra_West@vanhollen.senate.gov and morgan_levi@vanhollen.senate.gov.
