Project Updates
In accordance with the approved FY23 Capital Budget, the improvements to Millersville Park have been changed to sports field use. The park will also include a mix of community recreational amenities. The County has completed an updated traffic study and the aquifer study for the development of Millersville Park.
Community input is a critical part of the development process. The County has established a stakeholders group, comprised of community leaders and representatives of the local athletic leagues, held its first meeting on March 4, 2023. The stakeholders received a presentation on the background of the project, the goals for the park development, discussed desired amenities to be included in the park, and reviewed several preliminary options for the layout of the park. A copy of the presentation to the stakeholders is linked below along with copies of the preliminary site layouts. The stakeholders group will continue to work with the County and the design consultants through spring and summer 2023 to provide feedback from the community to use to refine and select a design for the park.
The new ADA-compliant park will include the following: parking, stormwater management, pickleball courts, tennis courts, multipurpose fields, a dog park, a playground, walking trails, pavilions, bleachers, and open space for other recreational activities. The Department of Public Works is finalizing responses to the comments and questions that were received during and after the public meeting. That response will be posted on this page when complete.
After reviewing the comments received the County will make revisions to the plans as warranted. The next step is for the design to be completed and the permitting process started.
A public meeting was held on November 16, 2023 to review the design plans for the new park. A copy of the presentation from that meeting is linked below.
