Mail Delivery Delays

Postal Service delays may have resulted in late fee assessments on quarterly utility bills.   The Department of Public Works and the Office of Finance is aware of the issue and will waive late fees for payments mailed in and postmarked prior to the due date deadline.  If you received a late fee and believe it is in error, please call 410-222-1144 or email [email protected].

Bill Payment Assistance

If you are having trouble paying your property taxes we encourage you to look at the list of available resources below for financial assistance to help you pay your property taxes.

In addition, please call the Customer Service Section at (410) 222-1144, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or by email at [email protected]. One of our Customer Service Representatives will be happy to discuss your bill with you.

 

Homeowner Assistance Fund

This program provides residential mortgage assistance and other homeownership related financial assistance to Maryland homeowner’s who have experienced a hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic to avoid loss of residence for eligible homeowners. The program will offer a one-time payment designed to avoid imminent displacement due to, but not limited to: property tax delinquency, chattel loan delinquency, manufactured housing/mobile home loan; or land lease/ground rent delinquency; homeowner or condominium association fee delinquency; home insurance fees delinquency; municipal sewer and water fees delinquency and mortgage delinquency.

Energy Assistance Relief

This program is targeted to customers who do not qualify for the Maryland Energy Assistance Program and other electric and utility programs.

Energy Payment Plans

Anne Arundel County has partnered with BGE to offer assistance to families and individuals struggling with past-due balances through a Deferred Payment Arrangement Plan. This plan allows customers to pay the balance off over time in installments with no required down payment. Customers who have the ability to enter into a payment plan can visit BGE.com/assistance or call 1-800-685-0123 to take action to avoid a crisis now. 

Water Bill Assistance

Low-income homeowners in need of assistance can check eligibility for the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program through the County’s Department of Social Services/Maryland Department of Human Resources by clicking HERE.

State of Maryland Tax Sale Ombudsman 

The goal of the State of Maryland Tax Sale Ombudsman office is to help Maryland homeowners navigate the tax sale system by providing the best information, assistance and resources available.
