Officer Mukum, in uniform and heading to the Jennifer Road Detention Center, was attacked with a firearm. The assailant struck him in the back of the head, leaving him with a significant gash that required eight stitches. But even through this ordeal, Officer Mukum displayed extraordinary heroism. He bravely fought back, disarming and restraining his attacker until help arrived – all while a shot was fired during the struggle. His courage in the face of such a serious threat is truly remarkable, and his dedication to duty, even attempting to report in his bloodstained uniform, speaks volumes. We are incredibly proud of Officer Mukum.

What an incredible story of one of our county Detention Officers. Officer Mukum was somehow able to hold an individual who had just viciously attacked him, to prevent this person from fleeing and harming others. Remember, 'heroes don’t always wear capes'.
