I had such a great evening with the Chesapeake High School Robotics Team. I was given a tour of the two rooms they occupy at the high school where they work diligently to prepare their robots for competition season. Thank you to team member and District 5 resident, Arabella, for inviting me and doing an outstanding overview of all that the team does. From carpentry to coding and many other skills in between, this group of students (some not pictured), travels as far as Texas for their competitions, along with their volunteer mentors. They asked me to help spread the word about their team, and I’m happy to do just that! They accept students from other schools and are always happy to expand their team.
Pictured here is the robot they built for this year’s competition season. They get just 6 weeks to build their robot within the parameters given for that year’s game and then they work to perfect it throughout the events season, taking the robot and their entire “pit” of computers and tools on the road. Truly impressive!
