April 29th was a ceremonial groundbreaking, 15 years in the making and 71 years after the Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company was created. The current fire station is a beloved relic for our area, but it is time to give our firefighters the house they deserve and the community a beautiful station that serves as the entry to one of the largest residential communities in our district. The new station will have enough space to house our firefighters and apparatus (engines etc), meeting space and a pull-through entry, eliminating the need for engines to stop traffic to back into garage bays. I look forward to returning for the ribbon cutting when construction is complete, and welcoming members of the Cape St. Claire Fire Company and Anne Arundel County Fire Department into their new home! Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen, from advocating to detailed planning. I had the easy part of saying “Yes” to this project, but so many others have put an incredible amount of time into this moment.
Let the construction begin!
