Programs

Senior Nutrition Programs
Home-Delivered Meal
The Home-Delivered Meal Program provides two (2) meals, a hot lunch, and a cold dinner, to home-bound older adults within the community. This essential program provides those individuals with the ability to stay in their homes. These meals are delivered by Meals on Wheels volunteers, five (5) days a week (Monday through Friday).
Congregate Meal
The Congregate Meal Program serves hot nutritious meals to seniors in a congregate setting such as a senior center, senior housing, and community centers. There are 18 nutrition sites throughout the county that provide a lunch meeting 1/3 of the United States Recommended Daily Allowance to seniors and disabled persons 5 days a week. Breakfast is also served at 10 of these sites. Participants (see eligibility guidelines) of this program are not charged for the mealsthough donations are accepted to help offset the cost. Anyone under 60 years of age is welcome to enjoy a meal at these sites but must pay full price. Please note that reservations are needed for meal service and can be made by contacting the site aide at the nutrition location you will be visiting.
Shop 'N Eat
The Shop 'N Eat Program (Subsidizing Healthy-food Options Plus Nutrition Education and Training) provides nutrition education to empower seniors to make health selections while shopping through the use of subsidized cash grocery cards. Participants are able to purchase cash cards in increments of $20 to a maximum of $60 value ($30 cost to participant) per quarter per participant. Limited quantities are available.

Distribution is held quarterly through our seven Senior centers located around AACo. Each participant must complete the application and attend the nutrition education class. Cash cards can only be used to purchase consumable food products. Items not included are household, personal care, pet car, alcohol mixers, and tobacco products.
Senior Farmers Market Coupon
The Senior Farmers Market Coupon Program was created to promote healthy eating habits among individuals and families, to provide participants with a source of wholesome, fresh vegetables, fruits, and cut herbs, and to increase the awareness and use of Maryland’s Farmers’ Markets. Coupons are available to low-income seniors. The coupons are used at authorized farmers’ markets and with authorized farmers.
