The Recreation Department is seeking a motivating Pilates instructor to lead our beginner mat program, focusing on fundamental techniques and core stability for participants ages 16 and up. Class times for Spring are set, but can be added or modified in the coming seasons. The ideal candidate will create a welcoming, inclusive environment while providing clear modifications to ensure a safe and effective workout for all fitness levels.
Shifts: Wednesday or Thursday 6pm - 8pm
Closing: Friday, March 6, 2026
Primary Location: Deep Run Rec Center (Hanover, MD) and North County Rec Center (Brooklyn Park, MD)
Responsibilities:
- Instruction & Technique: Lead a 60 minute mat Pilates session, prioritizing proper alignment, breathwork, and the fundamental "Powerhouse" engagement.
- Class Customization: Provide clear verbal cues and physical demonstrations, offering regressions for those with limited mobility and progressions for those ready for a challenge.
- Member Engagement: Build a supportive atmosphere that encourages beginners, answering questions after class to help students understand the "why" behind specific movements.
- Security & Safety: Monitor the premises for any safety hazards or inappropriate behavior. Report any incidents or emergencies immediately.
