Beware of Scams Targeting Owners of Missing Pets
There is currently a scam that has been targeting pet families desperately searching for their lost pets and animal welfare organizations across the country. Scammers have been reaching out to people who post their missing pet online saying they are an employee of an animal shelter and that the pet is at the shelter. They are then providing an online payment option (PayPal, Zelle, etc.) for the owner to send money to get their pet back.
If you receive such a call, these calls/texts are NOT coming from Anne Arundel County Animal Services! The only way to reclaim an animal is to do so in person; Animal Services will never ask for payment over the phone for you to reclaim your pet.
