Annapolis, MD (September 30, 2026) - On Thursday, October 15th at 6:00 p.m., Department of Aging and Disabilities staff will present "Dementia 101: Understanding the Changes and Developing Coping Skills." This workshop session will cover a basic understanding of dementia and how it affects the individual diagnosed and their caregivers. Communication tools and strategies for coping with changing behaviors will also be discussed. This workshop will be held at the Busch Annapolis Library (1410 West Street, Annapolis). On Wednesday, October 28th at 6:00 p.m., Department of Aging and Disabilities staff will facilitate the Dementia Live Experience. This workshop is a high impact, dementia simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementia, resulting in a deeper understanding of what it is like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change. Space is limited at each session. This workshop will be held at the Department's North County office (7320 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie, MD). Pre-registration by phone is required for this workshop. These workshops are presented at no cost to the public through the National Family Caregiver Support Program of the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities.
