Trip Desk Hours: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (Noon), Monday through Friday 

  1. All trips are open to current senior activity center members
  2. We abide by and enforce all policies and procedures in accordance with the policy and procedures of the senior activity center.
  3. Participants must be self-sufficient to go on trips. Trips for senior center members are planned to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. Trip leaders are unable to provide personal assistance, such as pushing a wheelchair or assisting with personal care needs. If a participant requires specific accommodations to attend a trip, the participant should notify ASI, Inc. as soon as possible. 
  4. Registration and seat assignments will commence upon receipt of the required deposit. Checks are preferred, no credit cards. Seat assignments will be the responsibility of the Trip Coordinator. If, after two weeks, you have not paid your deposit, your seat will be released.
  5. All monies are non-refundable unless a replacement can be found on the waiting list. Certain exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please talk to the ASI trip coordinator for details.
  6. Participants must provide their own transportation to and from the meeting point.
  7. Absolutely no smoking or alcoholic beverages on the bus.
  8. All participants must sign a Release of Liability Form before each trip.
  9. All trip participants will be issued name tags, which will identify them as members of the group that sponsored the trip. The name tags should also include the phone number of the senior activity center and trip coordinator. In addition, participants should carry an index card with their name, address, emergency contact, and medical information.
  10. Buses will not wait for anyone. Participants must adhere to scheduled arrival and departure times. Should you become separated from the group while on a trip, use the information you name tag to call your trip coordinator.
  11. Participants should stay home and avoid traveling when suffering from communicable illnesses (e.g., flu, cold, etc.).
  12. Participants should not use strong or excessive fragrances on the bus to avoid causing allergic or other adverse reactions to their fellow trip participants.

The Harriet Tubman Visitor Center And Crab Feast At Suicide Bridge Restaurant

We begin our trip at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center in Church Creek, Maryland. It is from this area that Harriet Tubman first escaped slavery and where she returned about thirteen times, risking her life to lead seventy friends and family members to freedom. Following the Visitor Center, we will enjoy a crab feast at Suicide Bridge Restaurant in Hurlock. In addition to steamed crabs, the menu will consist of crab soup, fried chicken, clam strips, corn-on-the-cob, coleslaw, dessert, iced tea, soda, coffee and draft beer. On the trip home we will make a photo stop at the Harriet Tubman Mural, which highlights her life in Dorchester County and the rich African American heritage in Cambridge, Maryland.

Shenandoah National Park

It is the perfect time of year to take a journey along historic Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, one of the most popular and scenic national parks. During the leisurely drive, a guide will provide a narrative tour and talk about the park's history and fascinating stories of the rugged individuals who once lived there. The park is a haven for wildlife, has numerous cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas, fields of wildflowers, and quiet wooded hollows. The tour includes a stop at the Harry F. Byrd Visitor's Center, one of the best on Skyline Drive, in addition to stops at several overlooks to take photos. A delicious lunch will be served at Skyland Resort.

  1. Angus Burger Sandwich served on a brioche bun, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and house chips
