Amber Barnett (she/her/hers) is an avid world traveler, artist, plant and dog mama, higher education enthusiast, mental health advocate, two-time HBCU graduate, and student of life. In September 2025, Amber joined the Nonprofit Center as the Professional Development Manager.
Amber’s extensive background as an Educator, both at the secondary and post-secondary levels, and an Equity practitioner have shaped the unique perspective that she brings to supporting our local nonprofits. She enjoys developing and facilitating engaging learning experiences that enhance knowledge/skills, build learners’ toolkits, and improve outcomes. To this role, Amber brings her expertise as a trainer and facilitator applying an intersectional lens to educate others. She is confident that her passion for building meaningful and authentic relationships to co-create solutions with community members combined with her personal and professional experience will cultivate a sense of belonging, communal healing, and equitable access in the County.
Amber earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Morgan State University. She is currently a student in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Syracuse University. Amber is an alumna of Associated Black Charities’ Board Pipeline Program and currently serves as a Board Member for Journey to Josiah, a nonprofit organization that connects and educates LGBTQIA+ families on the gifts of fostering and adoption. In this role, she looks forward to helping small nonprofits build the infrastructure and capacity to meet growing community needs.
