Anne Arundel County Conflict Resolution Center

Anne Arundel County Conflict Resolution Center (AACCRC) began in 1993, when residents met to discuss violence and create a community-based solution. Today, the AACCRC offers mediation, facilitation, and community conferencing services to individuals and groups in conflict, and these services are free of charge to the residents of Anne Arundel County. They also offer training and workshops in mediation, anger management, and other conflict resolution processes.

Their mediation service is a voluntary, confidential, and informal dispute resolution process, and it could be scheduled in neutral locations within the community at times that suit the participants. Their facilitation service helps groups disseminate information, or work through identified issues more effectively. They also provide neutral facilitators to assist in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings, which could be requested by parents, guardians, and surrogate parents of a child with a disability, an adult student with a disability, or a school representative.

Their community conference service is a meeting for people affected by behavior that has caused harm, including arguments centering on racial issues, cultural differences, or value conflicts. The goal of this conference is to create an agreement that will repair the damage, and provide reconciliation for all participants. This value-driven process brings everyone together to be part of a solution that builds on the values of respect, honesty, listening, truth, sharing, and more.

If you have realized that a conflict exists, and that help may be needed to sort things out, early involvement by Anne Arundel County Conflict Resolution Center could make a significant difference.
