Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC)
Communities provide services ranging from private, independent housing to assisted living and nursing home care. Some
require that residents are independent and relatively healthy upon admission. A long term contract includes an entrance fee,
which may be partially refundable, plus monthly payments. The payments depend upon whether the contract is one of the
following: FEE FOR SERVICE CARE or FULL SERVICE LIFE CARE community. The monthly fee for FULL SERVICE
CARE does not change, as the need for services increases, except for cost of living adjustments. In FEE FOR SERVICE
CARE additional monthly fees are charged as services increase. The admission fee (endowment) is typically lower for the
fee for service; than for the full service life care communities.
