Overview

Activities that individuals are not able to do on their own right now may be possible with Assistive Technology (AT). AT allows for individuals to carry out housekeeping, self-care tasks, work tasks, as well as talking, learning, and participating in free-time activities. Some tools are complex and would require a commitment to learning how to use them.
The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities Assistive Technology Library Demonstration and Loan Program has a number of different AT products that are available for demonstration and temporary loan so individuals can try the AT equipment to see if it meets the individual's needs. Staff will assist individuals with the identification of equipment available in the AT library, provide instruction on how to use the equipment, lend the equipment to the individual, and connect the individual with programs that can help the individual purchase equipment after the loan period is over. The equipment on display for demonstrations and for loans is not for sale but staff will provide individuals with the opportunity to borrow and use the equipment to see if it meets the needs of the individual.
