Jury Finds Jessup Man Guilty of First-Degree Felony Murder in 2021 Glen Burnie Homicide

Annapolis, MD – Late in the afternoon on Friday, November 7, 2025 in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court, Andy Daniel Aguilar-Amaya, age 21, of Jessup, MD, was found guilty of first-degree felony murder and robbery by a jury. Aguilar-Amaya was charged in May 2024 in the October 2021 homicide death of 26-year-old Gene Fayga Martin. He was subsequently indicted by the Anne Arundel County grand jury on June 14, 2024. The Honorable Judge Pamela Alban scheduled sentencing for January 7, 2026.

Following the jury verdict, State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess commented, “the defendant killed the victim during the course of a robbery, thereby making this a felony first-degree murder. Our laws are meant to deter people from committing dangerous felonies where death of any person is a foreseeable result.” Leitess added, “I am glad the jury saw this clearly and their verdict will provide some peace for Mr. Martin’s family.”

On October 21, 2021, Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to Beach Road in Glen Burnie for the report of a shooting. Arriving officers found 26-year-old Gene Fayga Martin laying in the roadway in front of his 2016 Acura sedan suffering from two gunshot wounds.  The victim was pronounced dead on scene. His manner of death was later ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore. The cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds.

Anne Arundel County Police homicide detectives arrived at the scene to collect evidence and conduct witness interviews while crime scene technicians processed the location. Items recovered included 9mm shell casings located near the victim’s car and fingerprints lifted from the victim’s car. A witness told investigators that she heard two gunshots and a silver sedan fleeing the scene. Another witness stated that the victim said he was going to meet “Ando”, later identified as the defendant, and another man to conduct a drug transaction. A palm print lifted from the exterior of the victim’s Acura matched those of the defendant. Investigators believe that the defendant intended to rob the victim of cash and drugs.

The State was represented by Assistant State’s Attorneys Dave Russell and Jeremy Whitlock. The investigation was led by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
