Glen Burnie Man Pleads Guilty, Sentenced to the Division of Correction for Vehicle Theft and Eluding Police

Annapolis, MD – This morning in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court, Zachary Ernesto Rolf, age 44, of Glen Burnie plead guilty to felony motor vehicle theft and fleeing and eluding police. Following the plea, the Honorable Judge Mark Crooks sentenced Rolf to a total of six years in the Division of Correction, the maximum possible sentence.

State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess commented, “This was a really brazen move by the defendant to steal a truck while the owner was loading lumber into it. This defendant is a repeat offender who had just been released from jail a few days prior to this incident. I want to thank our prosecution team and investigators for their work to take this public safety threat off the streets.”

On June 9, 2025, officers with the Anne Arundel County Police Department were called to the parking lot of Home Depot located at 66 Mountain Road in Pasadena. Prior to police arrival, the victim reported that his 2014 GMC truck was parked outside the entrance to Home Depot. The victim and his friend were positioned to the rear of the truck loading lumber. The vehicle was unlocked and running with the keys in the ignition, when an unknown male entered the vehicle and drove off toward RT 10. The victim told police that there were approximately $8,000 worth of tools in a tool box, $150 worth of lumber he had just purchased, and his cell phone inside the truck. Surveillance footage provided by Home Depot showed an unknown white male exiting the store and proceeding to circle the parking lot on foot before entering the victim’s vehicle and driving off. Anne Arundel County Police Aviation was able to identify and track the vehicle as it traveled into Baltimore City. The defendant bailed out of the GMC truck in the 2200 block of Langley Street in Baltimore and fled on foot, but was subsequently apprehended following a search of the area. The defendant identified himself to police officers who confirmed that Rolf was the individual captured in the surveillance footage. Baltimore City Police Aviation assisted in the search.

The State was represented by the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office on behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County. The investigation was led by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
